Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Zum Edelweiss, a charming gem nestled in the heart of Buenos Aires at Libertad 431. This Central European restaurant invites you to embark on a nostalgic culinary journey, showcasing the beloved flavors of German and Central European cuisine. With a vibrant atmosphere that balances tradition and warmth, Zum Edelweiss has become a popular destination for those seeking both comfort and refinement.

The allure of Zum Edelweiss lies not only in its expansive menu, which boasts a delightful array of schnitzel, goulash, and stews but also in the experience it offers. Diners have complimented the exceptional service and the attention to detail that echoes a bygone era, reminiscent of a time when such standards were paramount. According to a reviewer, Justin Chaos, this establishment serves as a "wonderful trip down memory lane," perfect for special occasions.

However, while the atmosphere may be charming, it’s worth noting that the quality of the food has had varied critiques. Anas Karkoukli highlights a fascinating blend of flavors, acknowledging the German influence in Argentine gastronomy, yet suggests that the extensive menu may compromise freshness. The ravioli, for instance, was characterized as "quite dry," prompting some reflection on the balance between variety and quality.

Despite this, many guests like Marian Dziouksz have raved about their dining experiences, praising both the delicious food and the attentive staff. The grill meat and fried cheese, esteemed by Mustafa Saricoglu, showcase the restaurant’s commitment to providing hearty portions and delightful flavors that can rival even the most renowned steakhouses in the city.

While occasional billing discrepancies have been noted, as experienced by customer Rose Mac, the charm and ambiance of Zum Edelweiss remain undeniable. It stands out as a culinary landmark where you can savor the heritage of Central European flavors in a captivating setting. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a comforting meal, Zum Edelweiss invites all to explore the rich tapestry of its menu.

So, if you find yourself in Buenos Aires, make it a point to visit Zum Edelweiss—where culinary tradition meets a dash of nostalgic flair.

A place from days gone by, clearly, the quality standards are not a requirement on newer establishments anymore, attention to detail, uniforms, cleanliness. It’s a wonderful trip down memory lane, to treat yourself…it’s for special occasions or deep pockets. Definitely worth it.

Good meal, good service, but you should review your bill carefully. We were almost “accidentally” overcharged USD $60.

I must say, it’s fascinating to keep discovering German and Central European influences in Latin America. German cuisine is definitely one of the European gastronomy traits that is evident in the city. The menu of Zum Edelweiss, is massive and expansive. Schnitzel, Goulash, Steudels and much more. Steaks and pastas also abound. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is charming. Regrettably the food falls way short from matching up to the quality of service and character of the place. Food did not taste fresh and the pasta (raviolis) was quite dry. Perhaps having an expansive menu adversely impacts the food quality.

You don’t need to go to Don Julio this place as good as Don Julio old fashioned restaurant like Time Machine I had grill meat entrada it was really good and fried cheese

Excellent experience. Delicious food and very attentive service.

In this era of fancy restaurants a classic like this that remains top quality is always very much appreciated You see the menu and you want to order everything And all is amazing Prices are affordable too!
